Sign up for Senator Meg Loughran Cappel's Summer Book ClubSHOREWOOD - To encourage summer learning, State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel is launching a Summer Reading Club for children and young people who live in the 49th State Senate District.

“Reading over the summer helps students stay engaged, build confidence and return to the classroom ready to learn,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “My Summer Book Club encourages children to discover books they enjoy while creating healthy learning habits that can last far beyond summer break.”

The Summer Book Club requires students to read eight books of their choice during the summer break, record the names of the books on a form, and return the form to Loughran Cappel’s district office by Aug. 7.

“Books have the power to spark imagination, strengthen literacy skills and keep young minds active during the summer,” said Loughran Cappel. “I’m excited to offer students a fun opportunity to keep reading, challenge themselves and celebrate their accomplishments before the new school year begins.”
