Library1State Senator Meg Loughran Cappel joined the Illinois Secretary of State in announcing two libraries in the 49th Senate District will benefit from more than $148,000 in state funds through the Secretary of State’s Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grant program.

“Libraries are cornerstones of our communities, providing invaluable services to the public,” said Loughran Cappel (D-Shorewood). “I am always pleased when I see our local libraries receive the funding they deserve so they can continue delivering the best possible resources and experiences to our community.”

The Public Library Per Capita and Equalization Aid Grants are awarded annually to support public libraries across Illinois in providing services to nearly 12 million patrons statewide. This year, the Secretary of State awarded $18 million to 639 public libraries across the state to help fund new services such as public programming, dual language opportunities, internet access, personnel and more. In the 49th District, Shorewood-Troy Public Library District will receive $32,125 and Plainfield Public Library will receive $116,617.
